The English Premier League is beginning this weekend. Finally, ESPN had made a smart choice by showing the first match of Tottenham Hotspur. Friends who had been following my blog should know that I am a die hard Spurs fan. Proud to say that I had been one since 1990. 16 years and still going strong. I am tipping them to do well. We had bought well and I am sure the lost of Car-reck will not be a big lost. 18.6 million pound for a player who can't get into the first eleven of a lousy team called England. I think Ferguson might be losing the plot.
Though i don't really like them, I think Chelsea should win the title. Don't think it will be plain smoothing for them as Liverpool is shaping up nicely. They have a shrewd manager in Benitez and they looked good in their Charity Shield win over Chelsea. They are at 6.50 to win the league. Worth a bet in my mind. Manure just don't looked like the force they were in the past. To be fair to them, you can't simply replace players like Keane, Scholes and Giggs easily. Yes, Giggs and Scholes might still be playing this season but they just don't scare the shits out of people now. Gone are the days when Manure will beat a team easily by 2 goals or more. I won't be surprised if they are pipped to the fourth spot by Spurs.
We have a great young team. What we are lacking is the experience to either kill teams off or holding on to a lead till the end. I had nearly tore all my hair out last season when we literally threw away points by conceding stupid goals in the last 10 mins of the game. No offence to teams like Sunderland and West Ham but to draw with teams like you were simply stupid. I really hoped we can get a win over the Eternal Enemy this season and also break the hoodoo against Chelski. It had been donkey years since we avoided defeat to them.
The player to watch out for this season will be Zokora, Berbatov and Defoe. Zokora was a class act at the World Cup and having him at less than half of what we had received for Car-Reck was simply brillant. Berbatov seems a class act and I loved it when he said that he would love to score against the Gooners. Defoe should start to realise his potential this season. Last season was tough for him but I think he had learnt that a pass might do the job at times rather than shooting. He is a natural finisher. If only he will be more consistent and less selfish at times. I think he will do well this season. 20 goals from him and we will be on the way to The Champions League. I am a predicting a draw against Bolton. They seemed to be our bogey team and I don't recall us getting a result at The Reebok Stadium. If Spurs was to start with a win, it would simply be amazing. :)
