A friend of mine passed away recently in a tragic accident. Though I wasn't that close to him, I still feel for him and his parents.



Dear Shawn Lim,

The day I read the news about you on the papers, my mind was in a shock. Never in my mind had I thought that I will lose a friend of mine to an accident. To me, you are still too young to be taken away by someone above.

I still recall those days when we were in the army. Yes, you might have been brash at times but I associated that with youth. You were still only 20 then. We had some fun times in the army together. Especially when we were repairing our A vehicles together and during Ex Wallaby.

I saw you recently during our in camp training. It was the first time that we had really spend sometime together. It was during then that I began to know you better. Knowing that you are not a typical rich man son who I always thought you were.

You do have dreams. Like what you shared with me. You hope to do well in UK so that you can take over your Dad business when you are back. You want to tie the knot with your gf when you are back and also get a faster car too. It was the last part that I disagree with you on.

Till now I can't really accept the fact that the car you had used to fetch me back to camp was the tool that took you away. It was great of you to offer me a ride during our nights off. Even though I was not located near to you then. You knew that I was feeling down over some personal issues then and had volunteer to fetch me back. To make my life easier and also have a ride in your dream car. I really appreciated it.

Though I did shared with you on the dangers of speeding, I really regretted that I never talked more about it with you. I was glad that you had treated me as someone who you can share your secrets with but I am regretting that I never offer you the advice which I think I should have. For that, I got to say a word of sorry to you.

My condolences goes to your parents. I was hoping to see them when I was at your wake that day. Sad to say, I didn't. I had wanted to give them words of encouragement. Yes. They might have lost someone who they had pinned all their hopes on for the past 23 years. Yes. Life might had thrown them a challenge again when they should be happily looking forward to their retirement. But no matter what, life still have to go on. I hope that they will be strong. People would normally pity those who had passed away but I think that those who are left behind deserve more time and concern from us. They had to accept the fact that someone who is close to their heart had left them forever.

There will be times when they hope that he will be still there. There will be times that they will be thinking what would he had said if he was still around. Pain don't fall immediately after someone had left you. It will only strike when you are all alone or helpless. When you are crying out for help or looking for someone to listen to you. Pain will only strike when you are totally helpless. I can't said that I understand how they are feeling now but I had lost someone who was close to me before. I know how painful it was. I am just glad that I had survive that tough period. I am sure that your parents will pass through it too.

I hope that you can find peace in the other world. Though I hate to see you leave, I realize that life is not something that we can control. Life is not like mathematics where formula could be calculated or created. It is always full of surprises, miracles, happinness and sadness. I am sad to see you leave my friend. Rest in Peace.

Tired. Cycling the whole Bedok Town Park and Bedok Reservoir Park is not a joke. I was actually looking for some leisure cycling when I went down earlier. Turns out that the leisure ride took me close to an hour. But I am glad that I made the effort to cycle these 2 parks. Didn't know that Bedok Town Park is that big and can actually link me to Bedok Reservoir. It basically end quite close to Kaki Bukit Rd. The Bedok Reservoir Park is even bigger. Took me to the back of TP, the start of the flyover to Kaki Bukit and lastly to Bedok Reservoir Road again. Been a long time since I cycle alone for such a long distance. Great way to get my mind off work.

Recap for last week. Forgot to mention that last Sunday was the First Month birthday of my godson, Jayden Yeo. It's just my luck that you chose to sleep the moment I reach there. Wanted to take some pictures of you and me. Seems like you already got a trait that is close to mine. Sleeping King.

Started to watch the below show last Sun. Catched it midway when it was showing last year. Quite a nice show. I kinda like the below song in the show.

(i) I have a secret crush on... no one now. Seriously the only thing that has my attention is my work. How nice. ( Chris: I have a secret crush on... no one now. I used to have one but let's just say that I was Crushed by my Crush. Haha. Lame Joke. )

(ii) I have never really fallen in love. I always pull out before things get too deep. Maybe it's a self-defence mechanism, maybe just a fear of commitment. ( I opt not to answer this now. My boss might be reading this and I think the politically correct answer should be: "I will only fall in love with my Job." As stated in my MSN nick.)

(iii) I've always wished that I could be born a boy. Guys just have it better. ( Haha. Too bad. I am born a guy and I never regretted it. ;) )

(iv) To clarify things if points ii and iii were misleading, I'm not lesbian. ( Neither am I gay.)

(v) Aspiring to do research was only a recent calling. I remember saying when I first entered uni that I'll never dabble in research work. Looks like I'll have to eat my own words. ( Let's just say that I never thought that I will be working in the construction industry. Life is beautiful in that you never know what it had in store for you.)

(vi) The furthest I've been out of Singapore is Down Under. Boohoo. ( Same lah. I with SAF some more leh. So Cheer Up!! )

(vi) I used to have a secret dream to become a singer. Now, I can only croak. ( Haha. About the same lah. Always like singing but realize that with my voice and looks, I am better off crooning in my bathroom or toturing my friends in the KTV room. )

(vii) I've always wanted to learn ballet when I was a kid but my mum refused to let me coz she said I would neglect my piano playing. Ended up, I never got to learn to dance and I quit piano halfway. Boo. ( Er.. I spent most of my childhood playing. I even skipped doing homework. So don't have the frame of mind of wanting to learn something. )


And to those people who had been bad mouthing Spurs due to our defeat to Bolton, the season is 38 games long. Not just 1 game.

First of all, a big thank you to Mr Low Kwek Wee. Finally, I got a treat from you after knowing you for around 4015 days. It was worth the wait. My first visit to East Coast Seafood Centre and to Jumbo Seafood. Yipee!! Pity that the seafood was not that fantastic. No Sign Board beat it hands down in my humble opinion. Remember it is the restuarant at Geylang. Not anywhere else. One thing good about the place is that it's quite cosy. The seats at the ground floor were facing the sea and the sea breeze was great. But being the practical us, we chose seats at the 2nd storey which was airconditioned. ;)

Just recall that it is Sue's birthday today. Got to know this lady from my previous job. Well, the first impression she gave me was that she was a serious lady who is basically serious about everything. Ha. As I go to know her more, I was impressed by her positive outlook on life. Serious at work and yet fun to have around when we are off work. Still bring a smile to my face when I found out that she actually followed Superstar religiously and is a die hard fan of Hong Junyang. ;) Let's just say that being a crazy fan doesn't really suit her image. Ha. For being the Saint among us, I should not disclose your age here. Haha. Anywhere, all the best to you. Hope that I will not be too late for your party tomorrow.

The English Premier League is beginning this weekend. Finally, ESPN had made a smart choice by showing the first match of Tottenham Hotspur. Friends who had been following my blog should know that I am a die hard Spurs fan. Proud to say that I had been one since 1990. 16 years and still going strong. I am tipping them to do well. We had bought well and I am sure the lost of Car-reck will not be a big lost. 18.6 million pound for a player who can't get into the first eleven of a lousy team called England. I think Ferguson might be losing the plot.

Though i don't really like them, I think Chelsea should win the title. Don't think it will be plain smoothing for them as Liverpool is shaping up nicely. They have a shrewd manager in Benitez and they looked good in their Charity Shield win over Chelsea. They are at 6.50 to win the league. Worth a bet in my mind. Manure just don't looked like the force they were in the past. To be fair to them, you can't simply replace players like Keane, Scholes and Giggs easily. Yes, Giggs and Scholes might still be playing this season but they just don't scare the shits out of people now. Gone are the days when Manure will beat a team easily by 2 goals or more. I won't be surprised if they are pipped to the fourth spot by Spurs.

We have a great young team. What we are lacking is the experience to either kill teams off or holding on to a lead till the end. I had nearly tore all my hair out last season when we literally threw away points by conceding stupid goals in the last 10 mins of the game. No offence to teams like Sunderland and West Ham but to draw with teams like you were simply stupid. I really hoped we can get a win over the Eternal Enemy this season and also break the hoodoo against Chelski. It had been donkey years since we avoided defeat to them.

The player to watch out for this season will be Zokora, Berbatov and Defoe. Zokora was a class act at the World Cup and having him at less than half of what we had received for Car-Reck was simply brillant. Berbatov seems a class act and I loved it when he said that he would love to score against the Gooners. Defoe should start to realise his potential this season. Last season was tough for him but I think he had learnt that a pass might do the job at times rather than shooting. He is a natural finisher. If only he will be more consistent and less selfish at times. I think he will do well this season. 20 goals from him and we will be on the way to The Champions League. I am a predicting a draw against Bolton. They seemed to be our bogey team and I don't recall us getting a result at The Reebok Stadium. If Spurs was to start with a win, it would simply be amazing. :)

For the first time in my life, I had won 3 prizes in less than 2 week. I got a Pirates of the Caribbean goodie bag from Shaw as I had booked my Pirates tickets through their website. It had been quite a while since I won a prize from Lucky Draws. Later on, I strike Group 5 for 2 consecutive Toto draw. Though not a lot, it's still $60. But I was a bit sian for the 2nd win. I got the first 3 numbers right and I immediately paused for a while. Not believing that I had 3 right just like that. I checked again and to my disappointment, I was to have only 1 more no right. Darn. If i had got 31 instead of 32 for my pick, I would have won around $1300. Could have saved it or get a new PC for that money.

But I am still happy. 3 prizes leh. Is my luck changing? I hope.. :)

Happy National Day to Singapore!! 41st and still going strong. How I wish I can be like you when I am 41.

Growing up pains. Happen to everyone. Being afraid of the unknown and changes. Human beings need to adapt to changes. Be it the working enviroment, friends who might not share the same goals as u anymore or someone who used to be a pillar in your life. Sure, it hurt to lose a friend or someone who had been with you for a long part of the journey but if he or she is not going to bring or accompany you to your final destination, just be glad that u had them for bringing you to where you are so far.

Once you know your final destination, life become much clearer and the route much smoother. Even if there should be obstacles blocking you in your advancement, you know u have friends who will always be beside you. You will always have a friend in me. I am very much looking forward to seeing a improved version of you. I know you can do it. Never ever had I doubted it.
